Pillowcases and Ideas

About a year ago we had a friend stay with us after he went on a year long mission trip around the world.  He talked a lot about his favorite place,Thailand, and an organization that he had worked with, called Remember Nhu.  He explained to us that many young girls are sold into the sex trade in Thailand and this organization raises funds to buy these girls before that happens.  They have many safe houses where the girls live and learn a trade (like hairdressing or sewing).

Madison was appalled by the injustice of this, and with a childlike passion, has been trying to tell others about this.  She also decided that she would make a change donation container at my store that says “Free the Slaves” and in the process has raised over $400.

This Fall she decided that she wanted to do something to help raise more awareness and funds.  I told her I thought that she could try to sell some things at our towns Dogwood Festival in the Spring. We ended up making 47 pillowcases & our next project is clay necklaces.

Here is more info. on the org:  http://www.remembernhu.org/

Sure will Jenny - she is just going to take donations but if you want a price point (we were thinking $12), shipping would probably be $3.00. Does she have a preference on what patterns or colors?
