Carving Pumpkins

Last night the girls carved their pumpkins.

Downtown Trick or Treating

The businesses downtown give out candy every year. Since we now have a shop downtown we handed out flyers and some candy (we only bought 2 bags and there were over 4000 people...now we know!).
I walked around with the kids and eventually we made it up to our church. They were doing a Trunk or Treat in the parking lot.

This is Elise's friend Reece - they love to play with each other at church.

Madison's Halloween Party at School

This time around we went to Madison's school for her Halloween party. She made a craft and then they had all their treats...unfortunately after the party we all went to get a flu shot.

The New Home of Heather Hill

Last week I signed the lease to a new shop. I had looked at the store last month and the price was good but I needed to think about what I wanted to do next with the business (since my lease is going to be up in Rogers in Dec.). The Mon. after my Holiday Inn show, J and I looked at the store with the realtor. She told us the price had gone done (almost by 1/2 they had quoted last month) and that another man had already signed most of the papers although he was still in a lease and was trying to get out. However on Thurs. night the realtor called and said he couldn't get out of his lease and we were the next in line...did we want it? So Fri. I signed the papers to the storefront downtown.

There is alot of work to be done - mostly painting...but I do have almost every fixture and display.

This is the store front - this year they are rebuilding the 6 lofts above me. Also, a huge restaurant Amelia's is opening 2 doors down from me.

This nook will become a dressing room.

Through that door is a backroom where I will have all my machines and fabric.

The inside front view.

and don't forget the bathroom...

Bendaroos

Madison bought with her birthday gift cards these Bendaroos and I have to say they are great "toy" for her! She has never been a kid to just sit and play with something, she always wants to make things... so last night she was working on this and wanted me to post it to the blog for her.
It's her Under the Sea collection!

Madison's 9th Birthday

Madison turned 9 years old on Sat! Jason was out of town and I was at a show so we postponed her birthday until Sun. Then we had her pancake breakfast and she opened her presents and for dinner she wanted to go to Steak and Shake. She received some gift cards for Walmart so after dinner she wanted to spend them, she bought Benderoos and a pair of sneakers.

Heather Hill at the Springdale Show

It was a whirlwind weekend for us! Jason was speaking at a conference in Kentucky... Madison's birthday was on Sat... and I had the Holiday Inn show in Springdale. But with alot of help from our friends we made it! And it turned out to be our best show to date!
Jason returned home safely, he was able to see Chris and Bethany (friends from CA who now go to school in KY). We postponed Madison's birthday to Sun. so she could have her "pancake" breakfast with her dad.

I have had a couple people ask me to do women's aprons so I made up a few for the show. They were a big hit so I will make more and put them up in the showroom.

Look how sweet she is...all decked out in Heather Hill! Thanks for stopping by and showing me!

Not For The Faint of Ear

Last night Elise was sitting on my lap and I noticed a bump on the front of her earlob (right under her earring). Her earring back was completely engulfed in the hole. We tried everything to get it out but this earring back was the type that had a wide front and then tapered down (how that width made it all the way into her ear is bizarre). I asked her if it hurt and she said no, she had not felt anything wrong with it (so how long it was like that who knows).
After multiple times of trying to tweeze it out (and Elise screaming) we decided to take her into the doctor. This morning the doctor gave her a shot to numb it then took a razor and cut it open and pulled it out. He said that he has seen this happen a few times. We are going to let it close up and then get it repierced.

Staff Infection - J's Football team at JBU

The faculty and staff at JBU have played intramural football this past month, their team name is the Staff Infections. Overall they won all but one game...pretty good for a bunch old guys (although J did have to come home and soak in the tub after every game). Playoffs next week!

J's touchdown caught on video :)

The other Lanker's Visit

Thurs. night J's brothers family came to visit from Kansas. We let the girls take Fri. off school to hang out with everyone. Here are some pics. from our time.

The Adventure Safari - We visited on Sat.

Some other sites we saw -

There was a pig sleeping right up against the fence where three wolves were hovering over him.

We had a campfire in the backyard... looks like Uncle Greg needs a Snuggy!

We spent some time over at JBU - messed around in the raquetball courts, had a mini concert in the cathedral, found the rope swing along the creek, caught frogs...

Unfortunately Jason didn't land on solid ground... I guess the story is Caleb thought he wanted to go again and gave a push but J was trying to stop. J ended up in the middle of the creek and Greg had to rescue him :)
