Lazer had his surgery on Tues. to fix his broken femur, the doc. decided that the break could just be fixed with wiring so that's what he did. Then this morning he called to let us know that he just couldn't stop thinking about it all night so he came in early and put a pin in his leg. Lazer is just too active and he was worried that he would damage it. The staff told us he was on morphine and still wanted to play...so now he has to stay in his kennel for 4 weeks and not use his leg. Pretty hard to do for a puppy.

Curiosity almost killed the dog!
Last Sun. Lazer wandered under the neighbors fence and found himself between two horses. The girls kept calling him to come but he wanted to play with those horses. One of the horses did not like Lazer and stepped on him. At first J thought he broke his back but then realized it was his leg so we rushed to the vet hospital. Lots of tough decisions on what to do b/c the surgery was really expensive. We talked about putting him down (which led to Elise constantly saying "You're going to kill my dog?" in disbelief). We found a vet that would do the surgery and let us make monthly payments.

Painting Pottery with the Lambs
Last Friday we got together with the Lambs (they are a great couple in our Sunday School class who have a daughter attending JBU). We had dinner over their place and then they took us to a shop in Fayetteville where you choose a piece of pottery and then paint it there. The shop fires it for you and you pick it up in a week. The girls had been talking about doing this with them since they mentioned it months ago, they had a super fun time and I will show you what we all painted once we get them back.

Lightning and Thunder = House burnt
This last week we have had some really terrible storms come through. One evening the lightning was so bad it struck the highest roof of a house a few blocks from us. The lady inside smelled smoke and got in her car and drove out of the garage right after the house exploded and burned to the ground in 10 min. She was fine but this is the cleanup.
Here is J watching the storm creep toward us.

Raspberry Picking at a Farm
Our cooking club has been trying to go raspberry picking now for over 3 weeks, but every Wed. (when we meet) it has been raining. Today it was actually clear so we ventured out to a farm somewhere in AR (about an hour away). In about 30 min. I had picked 4 packages full...you'd think I was born and breed on a farm :)

JBU Breakaway Camp
This weekend we headed up to Camp War Eagle for JBU's Breakaway camp. This was our third year up there and as always the girls loved it. We brought Lazer with us this time which added to the adventure...there was actually a huge fenced in area for a dog by our cabin so it worked out great. It was drizzly out on Sat. but that didn't stop the Lanker girls - they spent the afternoon at the Cove, doing the trapeze swing, blob and slide. Right after all that they wanted to stop at the rock climbing wall and do it. Elise made it half way up and Madison made it to the yellow bag up top.

Elise on the trapeze swing.

This is the blob, you jump off the ramp and try to hold on to the wet plastic balloon. Then you inch your way down toward the end so that the next person can jump and launch you off into the water.

Madison on the swing.

Little Kinks, But Now It's Smooth

Thank you all who wrote and gave suggestions on the website. We have made a few changes so that it is more user friendly. The first is we categorized the clothing into 4 sections - Dresses, Tops, Pants & Skirts & Accessories, this way you can navigate exactly what you are looking for. The other thing we did was in the database, once you click on the little picture it opens to a larger one so you can see the details. Much Much Better :)

Also thank you to Crown Enterprises for working on the website and who are still working on the "Design Your Own" Feature coming later in the month!

Soccer!
The girls started soccer this week. Madison had played once before when she was 4 (most of the time she spent picking grass). This year they both asked if they could play on a team so we signed them up. They are on seperate teams and are both pretty clueless until their coach tells them what to do, then they "get it".

Madison got braces!
Today Madison got her first set of braces. These are to correct her cross bite and she will have them for about a year. As soon as all her baby teeth come out then she will get another set of braces put on to straighten.

She finally decided on the purple bands - next month she wants orange and black for Halloween.
