Elise and the icicle...

It got worse before it got better...

Wed. was even colder and the winds picked up which made it worse for the trees. We lost power at 9am and then we were lucky to have it on by 5. Some people in town still are without (day 3).
Jason took us out driving around town today. He then took me to a parking lot and had me practice driving on ice (I told him it was a bad idea!)... less then a minute later we were stuck in a ditch and he was back in the drivers seat. Needless to say, if it's icy I'm not going out! Then we all headed to JBU to play in the gym and workout, the kids have had no school this entire week which they are so happy about (but it's gonna stink when it's summer).

Ice Storm

We are all home today b/c of an ice storm that moved in yesterday and is still coming through till Wed. J and I were standing outside looking at our bent over trees... b/c we live more in the country we heard these huge, creaking sounds as trees were breaking from the weight of the ice. Hoping it doesn't take out the power lines or we're in for a very cold couple days, the lights have been flickering. Another wonderful first!

J has a Blackberry...

This week JBU decided that Jason needed unlimited minutes on his cell phone (since he will be the laison for the Kanakuk camps). They asked him what phone plan he had to upgrade him... Well, most of you know we don't have cell phones so when he told them that they were shocked & bought him a blackberry and will pay for the monthly plan. Now we are trying to figure out how to use it, of course Madison and Elise knew how already!

Madison won 3rd place in state drawing!

We got a call yesterday from Madison's art teacher that she had won 3rd place for the Arkansas state drawing. So she again got her picture taken and another check for $50. This drawing is now worth $75 bucks! She put all the money into her savings account (when she makes a deposit they give her free coupons for McDonald's).
I got more info. from the contest, apparently her drawing was chosen out of 600 other students in the county, then each county sends one applicant and then the state picks from those. We also got her drawing back, which she was happy about.

Elise has made her bed...

On the weekends Elise takes naps (& Madison must stay on a bed & read, which usually means she falls asleep too). Well, this time Elise decided to make a bed under the dining room table & that is where she slept...and yes, that is ripped up cardboard she is sleeping on.

HYPE night at JBU

Friday night was JBU's first ever pep rally. They asked some faculty to play a 12 min. basketball game against the rugby players. It was a rule breaking all out pandamoniam type game, but in the end the faculty won. Afterwards, students said to J, "Man Lanker, I didn't know you had game!" Trust me his "game" has slowed down!!!

Supper Club...

Every Wed. I meet up with a few friends and we cook something for dinner, however we have made cheese, desserts, & tom. it's bread. We move it every week to a different person's house (where they provide lunch) and the ingredients to make what it is (then we split the bill). The week at my house we did J's meatballs.

When Jason's away, the girls will play...

The girls have always enjoyed our make up parties, although we only do them once in awhile b/c the clean up is horrendous. Since J was out of town I thought it was a good time to bust out the old make up and let them go crazy. Of course they wanted to do mine too :).

An ad...

Alright, since my graphic design gal is on Christmas break and I need to have this submitted to a magazine ASAP, I am throwing this up here for a critique. Let me know your suggestions if there is something you would change :)

You know you live in a small town when...

every member of the family makes it into the paper within a year! This time it is Elise's turn... two students from every class were chosen to get this award for having good character/responsibility. They won a necklace & will bring it home at the end of the school year.

My showroom - complete! Well, almost...

We all went up to finish the showroom this morning... and it is mostly completed. I am waiting on my new logo sign to go in that black frame on the center wall. I am also thinking of little things I can make to sell on those pink shelves facing the walkway. And frame more pics. to go on the shelving.
I am so thrilled to have this done now. We have done better this month then we ever expected so hopefully sales will be great into the new year. Even while we had the place torn up today a woman still was set on getting in there to shop, she made her way around the ladder and clothes on the floor, that was encouraging!
