I was asked to guest with the "Not So Plain Jaynes" group on Ebay - the theme is Yay!Summer. I have 2 auctions up (one is from my summer line) the other is a vintage fabric I found & just loved! This probably will be the last of me listing on ebay till fall.
This blog doesn't let me post links but if you want to see the auctions, I guess copy and paste into ebay :)

Art Shows and Stuff like that....
While sitting at the show in Texas (bored outta our minds) J was thinking of a better set up for the booth (currently we are cramed and only 1 can sit at a time). So I decided to go with a more vintage outlook on the booth (since most people comment that the clothes have a vintage feel to them). We found some closet doors for a steal, so I have been weathering them. Today I sewed up a new tablecloth so it won't slip off the table... When I came downstairs I found Elise playing store at it (she was imitating us at the shows :)). Here's a pic. of her and my doors...

Also, here is the list of where I will be for the shows:
Boomtown Days- Joplin, Missouri - June 6-8
Arizona Babies & Children's Expo - Glendale, Arizona (Cardinal Stadium) - June 27 - 29
4th of July Ventura Art Show - Ventura, California - July 4
Pasadena Summer Art Festival - Pasadena, California - July 12-13
Ozark Regional Arts & Crafts Fall Show - Springdale, Arkansas - October 17-18
Affair of the Heart - Oklahoma City, OK - October 24-26
Affair of the Heart - Tulsa, OK - November 21-23

Memorial Day
Today J and I rolled out of bed around 10am... I can't remember the last time that has ever happened. We had some plans to take the girls to the zoo but heard there was to be thunderstorms, so we nixed that plan. We ended up at the waterpark down the street. We got there around 2 & met our friends (the other Madison). We stayed long enough to get the first crisp of summer (at least we all don't look as pastey). Then we came home & I painted some doors for my art fair display while J cooked up some steak and shrimp.

Elise lost her 1st tooth...
Elise was eating watermelon yesterday and I saw her chewing on the rind. I told her that she could knock her tooth out if she bit into it enough. She came over to me and I noticed her tooth was already gone (and there was blood on the rind). I guess she swallowed it thinking it was a seed.

Since we are on the subject of teeth... we all had dentist apts. this week. Guess who needs to go to the orthodontist, miss Madison. She has a cross bite and needs to wear an attached retainer. Then she will need braces for about 2 years. I guess she is taking after me (but I had braces for 8 yrs.!). I guess J won't be canceling our dental insurance now - LOL!

Another Interesting Creature...
We were just leaving the house, driving along the side street when Madison said there was something in the road. We pulled up to it and saw it was a snapping turtle. I quickly ran home to get my camera and by then he had already crossed the road. Our neighbors came out with their dogs so the turtle got ticked off and started snapping at everyone

J brought a shovel to move it b/c it would throw it's neck all the way back and snap at him.

Its tail was so thick and bumpy, he would thrash it around.

...and we're back
Here is the booth from our show in Texas... it was an awful show, we basically covered our expenses but we got to see Luke and Aurora so that made up for it.

We drove out Thurs. and met Jon & Randi for dinner, then made it to Luke's house around midnight. Drove to Plano at 9am to set up and then we all took a nap in the camper. The show opened at 3pm and went till 8. We made most of our sales that day. At the show Sat & Sun, there was noone there! The promoter also told me that there were no other children's vendors and there were 4!
Another vendor summed up the weekend - They announced over the loud speaker that the show was closing in 15 min., he yelled out "When did it open?"

Jason waking up from his nap in the camper with the girls...

Sat & Sun. the girls spent with Luke & Aurora. Aurora took them to a carnival, then the water park and then McDonald's. Luke even baked cookies with them... could they be ready for kids???

Elise just wanted to hug the dog... all the time!
Swimming at Luke's place...

Driving home... we left Mon. afternoon, Jason went over to Southwestern Theo. Sem. to see where Luke goes & I took the girls swimming again. Then we drove up through OK to see the Taylor's again (this time at Braums). The girls were thrilled to mother Isabelle yet again.

The girls actually fell asleep back in the camper (I tried but it was too bouncy). Madison spent most of the time up on top reading, and then hanging upside down watching the road.

Our "Look" is Complete...
"Nice rig ya'll got there" - Yep, that's the first thing said to us in the Lowe's parking lot w/ our new cargo trailer. J said thanks, then the guy asked what we all did. Too bad J couldn't say something terribly masculine, like he is a real pro bronc rider... instead he uttered we do craft shows :) - LOL! I LOVE my husband!!!

We found a place locally who sold these cargo trailers alot cheaper then Lowe's. So I used my earnings from my last 2 shows and bought myself a trailer, now the racks can be transported alot easier.

Jason's Trees
In 20 years this has never happened...until last night...
I completely sewed through my finger! I always wondered how this could happen & now I know. I had the presser foot up and was folding a corner right under the needle and my foot went down on the pedal. The needle went right through the side of my nail and completely out the other side. It was the largest size needle so it was pretty thick and didn't snap. It was so quick that I didn't really "feel" it, now my finger just aches.

Momma's Day
Today was as world class as the Mom it celebrated, it started off with chocolate and ended with impromptu expressions of love in chalk (which will probably be gone as quickly as the weather changes here). But it wouldn't be as memorable as it should if I failed to put down in words what the girls have reminded Heather about all day- she's the best and they wouldn't want any other Mom (to which her husband can only add that she is also the ultimate quintessence of feminine pulchritude). Thanks Heather, we love and appreciate all that you do!

Madison... The Clothing Designer
Madison and Elise love to sort through my huge trash can full of fabric scraps. They usually end up making something with them... today Madison wanted to make an outfit for Elise (while Elise took a nap). She found pieces that she thought would work as a top, skirt, & hairband and hopped on my machine and made this creation...
She gave it to Elise and Elise LOVES it!

How a Workroom should look!
Jason loves to come up to my workroom and find it a mess, he always says "I love that you have this room so it's no longer in my bedroom!" (where I used to sew). Lately, it has been really crazy up there, coming home from shows (dumping things b/c there is another one next week, so why bother putting it away) and then sewing samples for fall in between. It's amazing I know where everything is!!
My Grand Mess...

We leave for a show in Dallas Texas on Thurs. and come home Mon. (we switched this show for the Houston show later in June).

1st words out of Elise's mouth this morning....
Hey mama, do you know what animals I don't like... (and then she poured out the list)
lions
jaguars
pumas
bumblebees
black bees
regular bees
and all mosquitos
I can say I don't much care for those "animals" either :)

Jason Passed his Defense - for his PhD
Today J had a 2 hour phone meeting where a panel went through his dissertation and asked him ?'s about it. He completely exceeded their expectations, so they passed him and told him they look forward to reading more of his research in article or book form ;). What this means is that he is basically done writing & only has to do his research survey over the summer and then he is doctor in Dec. ...Thank goodness there are no more degrees after that!!!

Tornado or Not?
Thursday morning (4am) we were awakend to the tornado sirens (well, I was...and had to wake J who sleeps through everything!). We still aren't sure where the best place in the house is (since we don't have a basement) and all the bathrooms and closets are on outer walls. Well, we eventually decided to get in the bathtub of the guest bath. Elise thought we were taking a bath, so she turned on the water so we were all standing there in water. J decided to just look out the bathroom window. We all went back to bed (our bed) and slept till it was time to head to my show early the next morning.
They did cancel school b/c electricity was out and trees down. A 15 yr. old girl died when a tree fell on her mobile home. The town still doesn't know if it was a tornado or "straight winds" but will determine it later when they analyze how the tress fell around town. Now everyone in Siloam Springs has told me they have never had a tornado within city limits... so I'm waiting to see if this was the year! I told J we need to move to Florida now so I can experience a hurricane!
